Community Health Nurse Drug Overdose Prevention Coordinator
Lorain County Public Health
Hours: Fulltime (40 hours per week)
This position will start under the leadership and tutelage of a Community Health Supervisor to ensure complete understanding of the OPIOID program, partners, present initiatives and objectives of current opioid grants.
Requirements:
- Implement and administer all objectives of the Drug Overdose Grant
- Complete successful training in the Core Competency Areas for Violence and Injury Prevention Professionals as defined by the Safe States Alliance/SAVIR National Training Initiative.
- Become a member of Safe States Alliance
- Attend local and state opioid coalitions meetings
- Become a committee member within the state opioid coalition
- Provide accurate documentation, reporting and data collection
- Possess clear communication skills
- Work closely with key community addiction, mental health, law and first responder partners
- Able to work independently following instruction
- Other duties as assigned
General:
- Assesses health status of individuals, families and communities
- Identifies key health determinants and their effect on health outcomes.
- Effectively communicates with colleagues, community partners and stakeholders
- Applies ethical standards, upholds professional boundaries, and confidentiality while promoting and maintaining the health and well-being of the population served
- Recognizes individual and organizational responsibilities within the context of the Essential Public Health Services
- Tolerates ambiguity; exhibits creativity and flexibility through times of change
- Ability to contribute to the evaluation and improvement of policies, programs and services
Basic requirements:
- Be in possession of an Ohio license to practice as a Registered Nurse (Section 4723.01 of Ohio Revised Code); Bachelor Degree from an accredited school of nursing (preferred) or six months experience in public health nursing or equivalent nursing experience
- Proficient in verbal and grammatical skills
- Basic computer skills including Excel, Access, and Word
- Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license for the State of Ohio and proof of car insurance.
- Current complete immunization record, BLS for healthcare provider certification
Work Schedule: Full Time, 40 hours/week. Typical hours 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. Variable, evening and weekend hours as needed
Physical Requirements: Be able to lift objects up to 40 (40) pounds.
