Public Health Nurse

Perry County Health Department

The Perry County Health Department has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Public Health Nurse. The Public Health Nurse develops and provides family-centered assessments and care plans, as well as initiates services for the Bureau of Children with Medical Handicaps by providing home visits for children. The Public Health Nurse coordinates referrals to appropriate resources and provides health education and guidance to families. Additionally, this position provides administration of immunizations and conducts communicable disease investigations, while maintaining accurate reports and records. All Health Department employees are expected to participate in the event of any public health emergency.

Minimum Qualifications for the Public Health Nurse position: currently licensed as a registered nurse pursuant to Section 4723.13 of the Ohio Revised Code. Applicants must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License, with ongoing proof of auto insurance also required. Candidates should possess a demonstrated ability to successfully work with a team, build relationships, organize and manage multiple tasks, and be customer service oriented. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. 

Applicants must also be able to demonstrate a commitment to improving public health by preventing disease, promoting health and safety, and protecting our environment. This includes the ability to collaborate with community partners to improve health in the Perry County community, and inform the public about policies, programs, and resources. Additionally, applicants must be able to communicate in writing and orally with linguistic and cultural proficiency (e.g., using age-appropriate materials, incorporating images, etc.) and deliver socially, culturally, and linguistically appropriate programs and customer service.
