Pay Range: $20.51 - $26.66 per hour, based on experience

Job Responsibilities: Plan, organize, and conduct inspections in the Food program to ensure compliance with all environmental health regulations. Perform operation permit inspections and routine environmental health testing; document findings in accordance with applicable policies and procedures; and follow up on violations to ensure compliance. Apply the agency’s standardized methodology to enforce state and local laws and regulations for abatement of unsanitary conditions. Contact operators, licensees, or officials to schedule appointments; and maintain a professional relationship with operators, contractors, and other officials. Perform operation permit inspections at manufactured home parks, campgrounds, and schools to insure and enforce compliance with applicable state and local environmental health standards. Perform rabies, rodent, and other vector control investigations; West Nile and other illness investigations; and inspections of refuse hauling and sewage hauling vehicles. Collect water and effluent samples; conduct investigations of safety hazards; perform routine environmental health testing to determine non-compliance with unsanitary abatement standards. Cross-train in other Environmental Health programs.

Qualifications: Must be detail oriented, organized, possess strong oral and written communication skills, excellent time management skills, and strong customer service skills. A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health or a related health field, a minimum of one (1) year of experience with the Food program, and a minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Sanitarian I; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience required. Currently licensed as a Registered Sanitarian in Ohio and the ability to maintain licensure required. A valid Ohio Driver’s License, valid auto liability insurance, the ability to maintain auto liability insurance, and the ability to maintain insurability under the County’s vehicle insurance policy essential. Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds unassisted and up to 50 pounds with assistance necessary. Certification in food service operator, pools, and/or radon preferred.
