Division: Nursing
Position: Public Health Nursing Supervisor                            
Pay Grade: M/S/C - Exempt                                            
Salary: Commensurate with experience                                            
Shift Times: 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Monday-Thursday, 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Friday. May be required to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Essential Functions of the Position:

Under the general direction and supervision of the Director of Nursing (DON) and in accordance with public health standards, practices and policies, assists in planning and implementing Departmental programs, policies and procedures providing services within the health district. Plans, evaluates, organizes and supervises Public Health Nursing (PHN) service programs including Clinic based services, implementing changes as needed to provide optimum service. Drafts PHN/Clinic protocols/procedures and assists DON with drafting PHN/Clinic policies. Delegates assignments to nurses and clerical staff. Provides orientation, evaluation, instruction and confers with staff under his/her supervision. Represents the Agency at meetings and committees. Collaborates with DON on job candidate interviewing/hiring and other Human Resource related matters. Participates in program planning and inter-agency coordination of services for Medicaid and Non-Medicaid activities. Actively participates in quality related activities.

Knowledge of principles and practices of public health nursing including community health as well as clinic operation and scheduling patterns. Administrative experience and knowledge of health administration. Applies public health sciences in the delivery of preventive health, public health education, emergency preparedness and administration. Knowledge of community resources as related to public health. Knowledge of nursing process and implementation in community health setting(s). Ability to exercise independent judgment, plan, organize, direct and evaluate nursing services, establish priorities, set goals, and effectively present findings both orally and in writing.

BSN and current Ohio RN license is required. Must have a valid Ohio driver license and sufficient vehicle liability insurance. Must have own transportation to perform professional duties as required.
