Community Health Specialist (CHS 1 or CHS 2)

Delaware General Health District

The Delaware General Health District seeks a F/T Community Health Specialist (CHS 1 or CHS 2) to perform duties related to assessment/planning/improvement, community engagement and health education within the Community Health Division.  Under limited direction, this position will coordinate the Tobacco Use Prevention and Cessation Program grant with the goal of creating social norm change through community action to decrease initiation and use of tobacco and to decrease the community’s exposure to secondhand smoke. In addition, this position will facilitate various strategies within the Community Health Improvement Plan.

Job duties will include but not be limited to: assessing need, action planning, program implementation and evaluation, grants management, health education outreach, conducting speaking engagements, policy development and coordinating a community coalition.

Requirements:

CHS 1: Bachelor's degree in public health, education, health promotion, social work, nutrition and dietetics, nursing or other related field preferred. Less than one year of relevant experience required.  

CHS 2: Bachelor's degree in public health, education, health promotion, social work, nutrition and dietetics, nursing or other related field preferred. One to three years’ of relevant experience required.
