Full-Time, Classified, Hourly, Non-Exempt. 37.50 hours per week, Monday – Friday. The pay range for this position is $11.80 - $16.36 per hour, based on experience.
Perform general administrative support to the Environmental Health division. Create letters, memos, and other documents. File documents; distribute mail; and copy, scan, fax, file, and collate documents. Prepare monthly reports. Answer telephone calls, take/deliver messages, and respond to messages. Answer general inquiries and provide basic/routine information to sewage installers, sewage tank cleaners, restaurant owners, and the general public in-person and over the phone. Take nuisance complaints and forward to the appropriate employee. Perform data-entry into spreadsheets and software programs. Update and maintain division and agency records and databases. Make renewal and reminder calls to Environmental Health licensees. Distribute, collect, review for completion, and process appropriate paperwork. Prepare water and sewage permits for issuance. Print and mail food licenses. Schedule various Environmental Health appointments. Collect and process fees/payments and issue receipts. Prepare and process various bulk-mailings; including permit applications. Run state certifications for Environmental Health.
Must be organized, possess strong oral and written communication skills, excellent time management skills, and strong customer service skills. Ability to multi-task in a busy setting, perform data entry with a high level of accuracy, and a strong attention to detail are essential. A High School Diploma or equivalent, proficiency using computers, and ability to quickly learn computer software required. Ability to carry, move, or push files and/or packages up to 25 pounds unassisted and up to 50 pounds with assistance necessary. Previous experience in a secretarial/clerk/receptionist position preferred. Experience working in the public sector or public health is beneficial.
